So I stated in an earlier idea post that sports is generally a heavily saturated, content heavy space. If you want a podcast on just about any sport, you can find multiple places for content. However, I believe that the esports area is less populated at least in the podcast space and I can see that the industry and the sport in general is growing and that there is potentially some pent up demand for commentary on esports or games in general. I’m not sure if those fans want podcast content necessarily, but I think it might be worth a try.
To be honest, I’m not well versed in esports. I’m a former gamer but my passion was more for single player games. These multi-player competitive esports games are something that I’m not as familiar with. But I think that if I can find someone who understands and is passionate about the sport, that could still be an interesting podcast as I’m coming from more of an outsider position.
I would also like to build a conversation around games and to discuss them more as a work. If we could build a following I would really like to have developers on to talk about how they made the game and why they made certain decisions about it. I think there is a room for conversation about the artistic creation of games and that this would also be an interesting take. I think the point would be to avoid the reviewing and deciding what games are good and bad as that is a bit obvious and saturated. We would either need to focus on looking at what makes great games great, or focus a few episodes on really bad games for the sake of comedy. We could also take a broader perspective of looking at the direction of the industry related to such things like the future of single player games, mircrotransactions and other pertinent topics.
